THE INSPIRATION
The goal of this event is to raise money in the fight against ALS as inspired by Tim Sheehy. Tim fought a courageous battle against ALS before his death in 2007; and like Steve Gleason, he saw the need to help those living with ALS by providing care. He created a 501(c)(3) - Project Main St. that raised more than $1 million dollars to this mission from 2006-2016. We are fortunate Project Main St. now continues this mission in a partnership with Team Gleason.
With the funds raised last year, Project Main St. & Team Gleason distributed 20 grants providing direct financial assistance covering the cost of home health care, medical, and insurance expenses, and home upgrades for wheelchair accessibility. Team Gleason helped an additional 109 people by providing 26 communication device copays, 7 Surface Pro communication devices, 16 portable power wheelchairs, 57 Model Talker Voice recordings, and sent 3 families on adventures.
Team Gleason is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded by former NFL player, Steve Gleason. After being diagnosed with ALS in 2011, Steve founded Team Gleason, an organization focused on providing an immediate impact to people living with ALS through innovative technology, adventures, equipment, and care services.
